My name is Debbie Allen and I am President of the Newman Club here on campus at IUSB. The Newman Club was recently approached by Dr. Alfred who requested that all of the ecumenical clubs on campus come together and host a campus dialog about current events, the role of faith, and responsible citizenship in our lives.
The rules of engagement are respect and tolerance for differences, a civil dialog. The format might be like the “table talks” of the past where tables are formed in a “u” fashion in the Grille, there is a moderator who would frame the question and conversation from the floor. The session could finish with an ecumenical prayer.
We thought that we would begin by inviting the officers of student clubs to meet on Tuesday, Dec 2 at a time convenient to all those interested. This is a time to brainstorm ideas and discuss a format that would engage students and foster enthusiasm.
Please let me know if your club is interested in helping us put together this important event. We would like as many officers as possible to come to the meeting on December 2nd. Please make suggestions as to a convenient time. If your club is interested in participating, please contact me at deballlen@iusb.edu with suggested meeting times. An email will be sent out before December 2nd designating the time and place of the meeting.
